Account Management
Hermes Web Mail
Service for people on the run. Have you ever wondered if it might
be possible to read/send/reply to one's mail while away from home or office, without
reconfiguring someone else's mailing software?
Now it is possible. When you are at an Internet cafe, airport, friend's home, even on the
other side of the globe at a computer with a browser, you can point the browser at
http://www.hermes.net.au/cgi-bin/checkmail.pll and deal with your mail. You can test how it works also
from your home or office.
HWM is also accessible from our home Web page, just click on the picture of ancient Greek
boat.
E-mail Services Help
For quick help on all e-mail services offered (how to: use mailing lists, get
your sesion logs by e-mail, setup auto reply, etc.) send an empty e-mail message to hermes-info@hermes.net.au (for Hermes Internet
members only).
Two Cent Newsletter Archive
Two Cent Newsletter full archive of all issues of this newsletter
is now available at:

The archive has search facility. While subscription to the newsletter is available to
members of Hermes Internet only, we decided to make the above archive visible and
available to all Internet users.
Connected: an Internet Encyclopedia (CIE)
Advanced material. Comprehensive
reference to the technical operation of the Internet. Over 40 Mbytes of information, over
4,000 pages. Hermes Internet members can download condensed CIEsmall.zip (21.7MB) file of
"reduced fat" encyclopedia directly from our server. CIE sections include:

Secure Transactions

We offer Secure
Transaction Server facility. This, together
with CGI forms which we can custom design for your needs, allows to accept credit card
payment on Internet, to collect and send confidential customer details, or to send other
sensitive data. Submission of data is secure, based on SSL encryption and certification
process interactively and independently verified by Thawte. For general

Access to this service costs $100 per year. Custom design service of secure
sites and forms is also available. |
Forms (free)
We have made available to you an option which allows to set up on line business
forms. This tool is FREE. You may have seen
similar forms many times on various Web sites. They are used to collect information - a
person looking at Web page fills in empty areas of a form, and then clicks on a
"send" button to submit it to the owner of such form. One typical application is
to collect inquiry details from people who looked at your Web page, and would like to be
contacted or to receive more information about a product you are selling.
Custom design service of business forms is also available.

Please notice that we do not guarantee integrity of any
subscriber's web pages. Please keep full backup of your files!
 | MAKEPAGE (FREE) - for people who
have not yet tried to enter the world of publishing on the Web. You do not have to know
anything about HTML (hyper text mark-up language) to use this tool and produce your first
page. It is a matter of filling out a form that you will be presented with. |
 | EDITPAGE (FREE) - for people who
have already had some web pages in their www directories. It lets them edit their pages,
create new pages, new subdirectories, and delete pages, subdirectories, and other files. |
 | HELPPAGE (FREE) - for all
interested in the tool set. It is also referenced from the tool set itself - in cases of
problems, errors and troubles. |
The above three tools are forms based, and are FREE and very easy to use.
Clicking "submit" creates Web pages for you. They work with any version of
Netscape Navigator, and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 of higher (they do not work
with MSIExplorer 3).
 | Keyword search facility (FREE)
It may prove very helpful for visitors to your pages, especially if your site is a
complicated structure of many pages. To see an example of how keyword search facility it
works click on SEARCH on the top of our home page http://www.hermes.net.au/_hermes. It
will bring up a form where you can put one or more keywords and submit, i.e. start a
search for them in the whole Hermes site. The result will be a clickable list of pages
each containing all of your keywords. The keyword search facility can be used not only for
the Hermes site but also for your site! |
