How to Connect to Hermes Internet Using Macintosh OS 7.xTo dial and connect to Internet from Macintosh computer you need to have two modules present and properly configured:
Depending on the version of your Macintosh OS (or Macintosh System), and depending on which TCP and PPP modules you decided to use, setting up required parameters is a bit different. Below you will find advice how to configure MacTCP, MacPPP and how to connect to Internet. To use Internet you need to start one of many readily available Internet access programs. Some examples of such programs are: Netscape Navigator (Web browser, e-mail, news, and more), Microsoft Internet Explorer (similar in functionality to Netscape navigator), Qualcomm Eudora (e-mail only), Claris Emailer, etc. Each program typically requires to be configured with information about your user name, password, and possibly names of Hermes Internet mail and news servers you are connecting to. Connecting to Internet.Simply open ConfigPPP and click Open (or Open PPP Connection if using FreePPP). Observe status report of the connection. If there is something wrong with your configuration, the last message indicates how far the dialing in progressed.
