The City is made up of small villages and towns from Lapstone to Mt. Victoria and is situated within The Blue Mountains National Park.
The main town is Katoomba at an altitude of 950 meters.
Tourists come from all over the world to visit the Blue Mountains which is really comprised of 3 National Parks. (Blue Mountains National Park, Wollemi Wilderness and the Kanangra-Boyd National Park).
Few ranges anywhere carry so many natural attractions as the Blue Mountains. The basic appeal is created by the great sandstone ridges and ravines, which spread and sprawl in fantastic fashion and which, over the eons, have become fissured and turreted by wind and rain to an extent that is awe-inspiring.
