With great regret we announce that on the 5th of January 2010, Hermes Internet will cease all dial up access to the Internet for its clients, thus ending its main service as an Internet Service Provider.
Closure of access to the Internet and email services
All accounts and mail boxes on our servers will be cancelled. If you do not have access to the Internet other than on our dial up number 0198333862, please, find another ISP and sign up with them before the 5th of January 2010. Please, inform us about your new or already existing email address with another isp. It will facilitate transfer of your Hermes mail box content to the address given. Final such transfer will start on the 5th of January 2010. After it is finished, no more mail will be accepted for Hermes email addresses. Senders of any messages coming later will get them back with a "recipient unknown" error signal.
We do not recommend any particular ISP for your access to the Internet as Hermes replacement. You may find a suitable one at
Continuation of the web and domain hosting services
Our web and domain hosting service will continue indefinitely under different conditions. They will be offered free of any charges (donations, however, will not be refused). They will work the same way as they do now except for email addresses of their owners. Since there will no longer be client email boxes and addresses on our servers, any messages generated by mail forms on your web site will be forwarded automatically to an outside address or addresses of your choice. If such an arrangement has already been in place for your web site, you do not have to do anything. Otherwise, please, inform us about your outside address(es) that should replace your Hermes one for that purpose.
Refunds of unused money in your account
Funds remaining in your account at the closure of the Hermes access and mail services will be returned to you as a non-negotiable cheque made out to a name of your choice. Please, send us a message with such a name and postal address by the 23rd of December 2009.
Renewal of Hermes subscriptions
From now on, renewal of Hermes subscriptions is only possible by payments of $22. Such a payment, on-line or by cheque or by phone with a credit card details, buys you access to the Internet at the standard rates, $0.90/hour and $0.25/MB, up till now requiring payments of $88. This is to facilitate further access to the Internet for those whose accounts have been or are about to be exhausted.
Monthly credit card accounts
For monthly credit card accounts, the December usage will be calculated on the 5th of January 2010 rather than on the 31 of December 2009. If you wish to change your type of account into one that can be renewed by $22 payments as explained above, please call 47588558 any time.
Thanks and best wishes
Many thanks for your support for Hermes Internet. We do hope you will find a suitable ISP for your access to the Internet. We wish you all the best, and send you our greetings for the coming festive season.
Sincerely yours,

If you are still not quite prepared for closure of main Hermes services, you may find it helpful that they are extended until the 15th of January 2010.
The extension moves the last days of Hermes operation beyond the middle of the present festive season, thus making it easier to talk to other ISPs and/or your correspondents about the change of your email address.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
