Web SpaceEach HERMES member has a web space of up to 50MB on our www
server, accessible by any ftp client (see Security > FTP-over-SSH in
the menu), or by facilities of Web Maintenance, or by those provided by
a Content Management System (CMS) that you may install using ftp. To
access your web space by ftp, you need to provide
- your user name and password,
- www.hermes.net.au as the name of the server,
- the name of a directory within your web space, to/from which you wish to
upload/download files or directories.
If 3 is empty, our ftp server takes it as the root of your web space.
The content of one's web space should be backed up by its owner on a computer other than HERMES servers. HERMES administrators do not guarantee integrity of any files/directories in members' web spaces. In cases of disasters - disk crashes, malfunctions, break-ins, etc. - they will strive to inform the owners about the need to restore web space contents from members' backups as soon as possible.
