LANCIA STRATO'S in the ALITALIA Racing Colours That Made it Famous
The LANCIA STRATO'S was produced with two aims in mind.
The Strato's made its motorsport debut in 1972 at the Tour de Corse rally in Corsica. Many in the motorsport department did not wish this to happen as they feared that the recently modified rear suspension mount fabrications ( the car was a prototype ) would not hold up on the seriously rougher than normal Corsican roads. The car, ( chassis number 2 ) painted in Marlboro livery and with no spoilers, lined up at the start. The car retired early in the event due to rear suspension failure.
The same Strato's was then raced at the Costa Del Sol rally in Spain only one month later. Again the rear suspension failed, but not before the Strato's had led the rally for several stages. The Lancia Strato's had proved that it had the potential required to be a champion.

PIRELLI WORKS STRATO'S at the 1977 LOMBARD RAC RALLY
In 1973 things began to come together for the Strato's. On the 6-8/4/73 the Strato's had its first win. At the hands of Sandro Munari, A614056 clad in
Marlboro livery, took out the Rallye Firestone. A further first was had in the Tour De L’Aisne driven by Andruet. Then came a very important win with Munari piloting Marlboro car no.111 to victory in the Tour De France which covered about 6000 km.……….
