Meaning
"Men
can become deranged if they believe life has no meaning. Religion has
made gross errors. At least it held out an afterlife, a hope of
salvation, and preserved - sometimes despite itself - the tradition of
the heroic soul. Science, including psychology, by what it has said,
and by what it has neglected to say. has come close to a declaration
that life itself is meaningless. This is a direct contradiction of deep
biological knowledge, to say nothing of spiritual truth. It denies the
meaning of biological integrity. It denies man the practical use of
those very elements that he needs as a biological creature: the feeling
that he is at lifes centre, that he can act safely in his environment,
that he can trust himself, and that his being and actions have
meaning.......If you believe that your life has no meaning
then you will do anything to provide meaning, all the while acting like
a mouse in one of science's mazes - for your prime directive, so to
speak, has been tampered with"
Seth "The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events" p.263
On the Nature of Reality"Remember
also that if physical reality is an illusion, it is an illusion caused
by an even greater reality. The illusion itself has a purpose and a
meaning"
Seth:"Seth Speaks: the Eternal Validity of the Soul" p. 39
In
a very real way of speaking your concept of reality as seen through
your physicl senses, scientific instruments, or arrived at by
deduction, bears little resemblance to the facts - and the facts are
difficult to explain.Seth: "Seth Speaks: the Eternal Validity of the Soul" p. 36
On Consciousness and MatterNothing exists -
neither rock, mineral, plant, animal or air - that is not filled with
consciousness of its own kind. So you stand amid a constant vital
commotion, a gestalt of aware energy, and you are yourselves physically
composed of conscious cells that carry within themselves the
realization of their own identity, that cooperate willingly to form the
corporeal structure that is your physical body. I am saying, of
course that there is no such thing as dead matter.....You cannot
understand what you are unless you understand such matters.
Seth: "Seth Speaks: the Eternal Validity of the Soul (1994),
On the Environmental CrisisThe over population
problem will teach you that if you do not have a loving concern for the
environment in which you dwell, it will no longer sustain you - you
will not be worthy of it. Youi will not be destroying the planet, you
see. You will not be
destroying the birds. or the flowers, or the grains or the animals. You
will not be
worthy of them, and they will be destroying you.
You have set up the problem for yourselves within the framework of your reference.
You will not understand your part within the framework of nature until you actually
see yourselves in danger of tearing it apart. You will not destroy consciousnes. You
will not annihilate the conscious- ness of even one leaf, but in your context, if the
problem were not solved, these would would fade from your experience.
The crisis is a kind of therapy, however. It is a teaching method that you have set
up for yourselves because you need it.
Seth, "Seth Speaks - the Eternal Validity of the Soul", p.178 (1994) or p.210 (1972)
On the Living and the Dead
"The present model for physical life precludes any easy mixing of the
living and the dead, any casual encounters between those in flesh and
out of it as a common occurrence. This was not always the case, for at
one time the dead and living mixed far more openly." Seth
On Death and Choice"...there are no
accidents. No one dies under any circumstances who is not prepared to
die. This applies to death through natural catastrophe as well as to
any other situation. Your own choice will dictate the way you die as well as the time.
Many
people die young, for example, because they believe so strongly that
old age represents degradation of the spirit and an insult to the body."
"The Nature of Personal Reality" p.410-11.
On the Creation of Mass Events"As
I have frequently mentioned, you have a hand in forming 'all' events to
one extent or another, and at certain levels you are therefore involved
in the construction of those global events that affect the world,
whether they be of so-called natural or cultural nature." Seth, session 933
