Let's Party
Throughout our lives, we celebrate our most significant moments such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and major achievements. The most common way to celebrate these events is with a big party. With our wonderful environment and big gardens, the Mountains are a great place for parties, as shown by the number of city people who choose to hold their celebrations here.
Unless you regularly have big celebrations, you'll need to hire the equipment. There is now only one hire company in the Blue Mountains, and that's Bluey's Party Hire in Megalong Street, Leura. Bluey's have recently spent over $190,000 on new equipment - $90,000 of that on party equipment.
The staff at Bluey's pride themselves on being able to supply everything you need for your party, at the same price or cheaper than you can get it from Penrith or the city. "Many people think that we can't supply the equipment they need, or that we're more expensive than the city, but that just isn't true," says Jim, one of the owners of Bluey's. "Not only do we have all the equipment, but being a local company means that if you forget to order something, we can quickly supply it, so that your party isn't spoiled. We've had people call us at 4.30pm on a Saturday in a panic because they forgot the champagne flutes, and we were able to get them delivered in half an hour."
Bluey's is a family business which employs several local people, which is another good reason to use a local company. The best reason, though, is their offer of free delivery of party hire equipment, up until Christmas. Delivery and pick-up from the city can cost $100 each time.
One of their most popular items is a Höcker style free standing
marquee. It has no pegs so it can be set up on a terrace or on concrete.
If your garden is rocky, it's a perfect solution. It also means that there
is no centre pole to obstruct space in the marquee.
Bluey's supply everything you could need, from the glasses, cutlery and crockery through to all the catering equipment - chip fryers, mobile freezers, spits and anything else you might need. They also supply all of the sound equipment you need to get your party dancing, including juke boxes, amplifiers, CD equipment, public address systems and cordless microphones. A sound engineer is available to give you advice on the use of the equipment. Disco lights and stage lighting add an extra flamboyant touch, and these are available for hire, too. Bluey's also hire general equipment, including mobile large space gas-jet heaters, just what we need for a Mountains winter!
