 SWAG's Airport Concerns

The proposal to site a second major airport within the Sydney Basin at Badgery's Creek concerns for members of Springwood and Winmalee Action Group, as they consider that it would have far reaching consequences for our Mountains environment.

SWAG is trying to keep abreast of all the information and discussions about this matter, and so sent delegates to the Public Forum held at Petersham Town Hall on 3rd May. They heard speakers debating not only the two options for which the Government has commissioned Environmental Impact Statements - namely Badgery's Creek and Holsworthy - but also the various alternatives of Parkes, Wilton, Goulburn and an "off shore" airport.

SWAG will be convening a Public Information Meeting at 7.30pm on 30 May at the Red Cross Hall in Springwood. Speakers include Kay Valla, Federal MP Kerry Bartlett, Councillor Terri Hamilton and Di Shanks from the Catchment Management Trust. The meeting will address issues of concern about the proposed airport.
