OVERSEAS AIR LAW CONVERSION - AAOS.

This AAOS course is designed for a pilot who already holds an ATPL (A) from another country to gain an Australian ATPL (A) qualification. This conversion requires that you complete the Australian Air Law examination (referred to as the AAOS). Prior to issuing you with an Australian ATPL ((A), you will need to pass the Australian Command Instrument Rating examination (called IREX), be granted an Australian Command Instrument Rating - Multi-engine, have 1,500 hours aeronautical experience and a Class 1 medical certificate. The AAOS examination is only available to persons who actually hold an ATPL (A) with another country. To have just passed the ATPL (A) theory examination in a foreign country is in itself not sufficient. You must obviously have passed the examination, but you must have taken that extra step to actually hold the ATPL (A)licence in order to do the AAOS conversion.

THE AAOS COURSE

You are provided with a booklet of questions, arranged into various topics for you to research and find the answers from the AIP, CAOs, CARs etc. To assist you to become familiar with the various documents, a CAO Index is included which provides an extensive listing of the CAOs 20 - 95 and many cross related references into the CARs and AIP. This is an invaluable aid in helping you to learn your way around the documents. The final part of the AAOS course is a practice examination.
