I am Neal Hicks, on the web I go by Varyk (personal nickname).
I'm 35, live in Columbus, Ohio, USA with my girlfriend.
I tend bar for a living, and amuse myself with astronomy, computing and art in various forms.
I came to POV-Ray by way of wanting to try my hand at computer art, and after seeing rendering software priced in the $100s to $1000s, I found POV for free! Plus a huge community of artists and enthusiasts.
I came to the IRTC (and this list) because after working my way through the tutorials, my woozy head was so full of half-understood POV trivia that I couldn't think where to start for a first composition, so I let the IRTC suggest a theme, and submitted.
I am learning by doing, and may ask simplistic questions that make everyone here groan. Sorry in advance!
I couldn't make the normal cross-product of a vector if my life depended on it.
Even at 35, I'm very young in POV-years (1 month to be exact) and my head is spinning. I am going to perservere, however, as I see POV as a way of finally putting the dreams I imagine out where I can share it with others.
That, for me, makes it worthwhile. ......Varyk
